Conservative Republicans Hate Women

It's easy to say that conservative Republicans hate unions. All these measures to destroy public unions is not about budgets. It's harder to say conservative Republicans hate women. But they do. Why? In today's budget battle it came down to the funding of one organization. The conservative Republicans want to defund Planned Parenthood.

I've watched House Speaker John Boehner's (R-OH) press conference today. When the question was whether it was about Planned Parenthood, he avoided question. Congressman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) (Video below.) made it clear this budget battle was all about Planned Parenthood. By the way here's how biased Fox News is. While covering Senate Majority Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) news conference, the news script for Fox did not say it was about women's health, which is what Harry Reid was complaining about. Second, Fox News went to its talking heads right after his comments, skipping Reid's news conference. Fair and balanced, my ass. But I digress.

Planned Parenthood is funded by federal law, Title X. It was signed into law by President Richard Nixon, who probably is now considered a leftist by the Republicans. No federal money can be used for abortion. Planned Parenthood provides breast cancer screenings, pap smears, and family planning. Yes, Planned Parenthood does provide abortions. But that is only three percent of its services.

Even with their hate of Planned Parenthood and abortions, the organization provides health care to women. Why do Republicans hate breast cancer screenings, pap smears and family planning? In their puritan goal of turning America back to the fifties. It's a far right social view that has absolutely nothing to do with getting the fiscal house in order. The great majority of the budget is medicare, social security and defense. Cutting Planned Parenthood hurts women.

That's why conservative Republicans hate women.
