Rockstar strikes back at cheaters

If you tried to get online with Grand Theft Auto V last night, you got a message that the Rocstar Administrator was doing some maintenance. Well, this is what they did. They removed the modded counterfeit cash that was being made by cheaters. If you've played the game you may have found out that some players have had gigantic amounts of cash. There were huge bounties. And by that I mean billions of bucks. Either as acts of altruism or an attempt to launder their cash, cheaters also distributed this cash anonymously to innocent parties.

Rockstar removed all the counterfeit cash last night. (Official announcement from Rockstar.) Now if you're an innocent person who received the cash, you found your account without the counterfeit cash and the balance seems to reflect the honest cash you have earned. If you are an innocent party that received the cash, Rockstar won't go after you. They announced, " Anyone who innocently received GTA$ as a result of these exploits but did not engage in cheating to acquire it will not face any further action - the funds will just be removed, and you'll be able to keep any items you currently own." It's only the actual modders who will face penalties.

This is a good start for Rockstar. And it's good that they will allow innocent parties to keep the things they may have bought with the modded cash. That's because the counterfeit cash was mixed in with a players honest cash. And why am I discussing fake cash in a game that celebrates crime? But I digress. It made sense from an economic standpoint for Rockstar to stop the flow of modded cash. That's because Rockstar allows you to use real money to add in game cash to your account. They obviously lost real money.

But the modded cash is a only one problem with the online portion of the game. The online game is flooded with cheaters. There seems to be players who have extraordinary speed in running and driving. There are things like aimbot which gives a player the ability to auto aim like the single player campaign. A random killed me at will in a manner that was Superman fast. There was also a god mode. If you don't believe me on some of these mods, just Google it. These are totally unfair advantages in competitive games and free mode. It's these cheats that have wrecked the game for those who are honest. Free mode has turned into a place where the modders kill innocent players unfairly. Rockstar should fix these cheats as they are more important than the modded money. These cheats affect gameplay and if they continue, players will likely refuse to play the game online.
