Those Crazy Birthers, Part Twelve; DONALD TRUMP HAS NO DECENCY

During the infamous Communist witch hunt conducted by Sen. Joseph McCarthy (R-Wisconsin), attorney for the Army, Joseph N. Welch had heard enough. He said to McCarthy, "Have you no sense of decency, sir [.]" (Video below.) For the last two weeks, super rich guy, Donald Trump has rode the birther movement to the top of the Republican presidential ticket by questioning whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States. He made baseless allegations such as the birth certificate was missing. He refused to accept Hawaii's short form of birth certificate for President Barack Obama or the evidence of newspaper reports announcing his birth. Today, President Obama with a special exception released the long form of his birth certificate. Now, I ask Donald Trump, "Have you no sense of decency, sir?"

Instead of apologizing, Donald Trump amazingly took credit for its release and defusing the issue. He blamed reporters for raising the issue when it was he that kept raising it. Remember how he talked about having people on the ground in Hawaii looking for it? Here are some of his ludicrous comments from the Huffington Post:

"I am really honored to play such a big role in hopefully, hopefully getting rid of this issue, ... Today I'm very proud of myself, because I've accomplished something that no one else has been able to accomplish, ...I want to look at it, but I hope it's true. ... But he should have done it a long time ago."

I want to respond to the charge that Obama should have done it a long time ago. This is a charge that I hear the birthers now making. It's you conservative Republicans that raised the issue. (Most Republicans question whether Obama is a citizen.) No one questioned whether Republican John McCain was a citizen. Since conservative Republicans raised the issue, they bear the burden of proof. It's their accusation. But Obama did release the official short form birth certificate. It did say he was born in Hawaii. Instead, birthers demanded the "long" form. This is in spite of the official short form and evidence of newspaper reports detailing Obama's birth.

So Donald Trump was completely wrong about the birth certificate. Refuses to apologize. Do we want a President Trump who acts without facts? How did that Iraq war turn out? Worse, as I wrote before Trump continues to challenge Obama's ability to get into Harvard Law School.

Have you sense of decency, Donald Trump? I guess not.
